Why this exists
In July 2026 we read the documentation of ten AI chat platforms, one after another, looking for the same thing in each: what an AI chatbot built in India for Indian stores would need to show when it gets an answer wrong. Nine of the ten gave no visibility at all into the step between the question and the answer. You could see what the shopper asked and what the bot said. Everything that decided the answer was hidden.
That matters more than it sounds. When a shopper is quoted the wrong price, there are two very different explanations. Either the right page was never found, or it was found and misread. They have nothing in common except the symptom, and they are fixed in completely different ways. A platform that hides the middle leaves you guessing which one happened, every time.
What we built, and how we work
What we built instead
ChatWidget is a shopping assistant that keeps its working. Every answer is stored with the passages it considered, the score each one earned and the ones it refused to use. The merchant sees that beside the conversation; the shopper sees a quiet “Sourced from this store” when the answer came from the store's own content. We think that is the minimum a business should expect from software that talks to its customers on its behalf.
Why a shopping assistant, and why India
Most of the stores we work with sell to Indian shoppers, often in more than one language, on phones with patchy connections. So the assistant speaks English and nine Indian languages, loads a few kilobytes before anyone opens it, and reads live stock and prices rather than a snapshot. A recommendation for something that sold out this morning is worse than no recommendation at all.
How we work
We publish our prices. We publish what we are not certified for. We publish our comparisons with other vendors and say what they do better, and our build refuses to compile a comparison without that concession. We do not put a number on this site that the product cannot prove: no invented customer counts, no resolution percentages, no revenue claims.
Who we are
ChatWidget is built by Fourth Dimension in India. We answer our own support email and run our own demos. If you want to know how any part of the product works, ask: the answer will come from the people who built it, not from a script.
What we will not do
We will not add a feature we cannot show working, and we will not describe one on this site before it exists.
Read the parts that check us
-
The trace panel
The feature the argument above is about.
-
What we have not certified
Stated before the table, not after it.
-
The comparisons
Each one says what the other vendor does better.
-
The gaps
Every one of them linked to where else we admit it.
-
Engineering notes
Our own bugs, with the measurements that fixed them.
See it sell, with the receipts
Connect your store, ask what your shoppers ask, and read the trace behind the first answer.
